May be some story you forgot

He just woke up and felt his head killing him. It must have been a heavy lot to drink last night. But then, what more apt can be a reason than this. He barely put on a t-shirt, didn't care about his hair, took the wrapped gift from the table and started on his bike.
Must have been well past the speed limit, when he saw the police man waving his hand to stop. He stopped in confusion and the police man was asking all the regulars. License, Pollution, Speed, and then he realized, he had none. Not even any money to pay the policeman off. In an act of desperation, he tried to get back on his bike and run past the police. When you are riding solo on unluck, there is never a break. All he remembered was crashing quickly to side of the road after jumping off a gutter and policemen running to him. In the flashes of his conscience playing hide and seek, he saw the gift lying beside him and clutched on to it with great effort.
It must have been sometime, since he started in the morning and now dark is dawning. He realized he has some bandages over, and that he is getting bailed off from the police station. Who called his friends over? Him in his semi consciousness or the policemen, from his mobile? No idea. He found the gift placed over at the side, grabbed it, and took the key from his friend’s hand to his bike and started off again – partially not listening to his friend’s arguments since he is not in his full conscience.

It’s a marriage reception. It has to be. As it usually is. After reaching there, our guy, tired and exasperated, and may be because it’s his friend’s bike, just let’s go of it to fall down, takes the gift and walks over to the auditorium.

You can tell, from the bride’s expression, that she is shocked to see him. He slowly walks in, in the center, with everyone watching him. The bride’s parents are both shocked, angry and worried. The groom is red with rage. Obviously some previous history between guy and the girl that everyone is aware of. But our guy pays no attention to them. He climbs to the podium and reaches the bride’s side, gives her the gift. That’s when the groom decides to intervene. He comes forward, but our guy, pushes him aside and slowly climbs down the podium. He looks at the bride’s parents – slowly mumbles something.. may be that he has come for no trouble. But the groom’s friends have already surrounded him asking if he thinks he can walk away like this from here. He gives no response.

From outside the auditorium, it must have seemed like superman crashed in to the gutter. He came flying out and suddenly was in the muddle.
But he doesn't seem to mind. He gets up with great difficulty, walks out, and doesn't take the bike. May be no more energy left? He walks to the bus stop and sits in the waiting bay. And that’s when he notices a girl sitting beside him. She is obviously packed for travel and sleeping? No, crying. Slightly irritated he asks her what’s the matter.

She had left her home to run away with her lover. And he is running late. He asks her when he was supposed to be coming. She replies 7.30. He looks at his watch and tells her consolingly that it’s just after 8.30, and maybe he is running late. And that’s when she tells her that it was supposed to be 7.30 AM. She had been waiting there for more than 13 hours. That’s quite a lot, and maybe he is not coming anymore. He tells her to get an auto and go home. Parents might be worried and that he is not coming. She snaps and tells him that he is saying so because he doesn't understand true love. He can only smile at the irony.

Post credit scene: After the marriage ceremonies are over. It’s the fantastic gift unwrapping time. The groom trying to be a tease, pick the guy’s gift up first and tells her, let’s see what he gave. He slowly opens it up and it’s a watch. She remembers a time when guy told her that he already got a gift for her birthday, which he never got time to give it to. But interestingly enough, it’s a broken watch. When he fell the first time while running from police, it must have fell down the hard way and broke itself. The grooms wonders for a second what the broken watch signifies and then throws it to the dust bin laughing.. why the hell would they need a broken watch anyway? She looks at dust bin after the watch fell. No one can decode the expressions on her face then.

Author’s comments: Other’s love is always simple to one, it’s just one’s that is multi-dimensional and complicated.
